Your Auren guide: wavy hair in summer

Your free Auren guide 💛 — thanks for joining.

Wavy hair lives in a delicate balance: with the right care, summer suits it beautifully (sea salt adds texture and the wave comes alive); without it, it turns to frizz and collapsed waves. The difference is the routine.

What happens to your waves in summer

The wave is an “in-between” form of the fibre: any aggression alters it. Ambient humidity breaks the hydrogen bonds that define the pattern (hello, frizz), chlorine and salt dry it out, and friction — towel, pillow, brush — undoes what's left.

The routine that works

Washing: sulphate-free shampoo, 2-3 times a week. Seawater doesn't count as washing: always rinse with fresh water after the beach.

Definition: on very wet hair, apply your wave cream or leave-in and scrunch. Air dry. In summer, forget dry brushing: it undoes the wave and multiplies frizz — detangle only in the shower, with conditioner and a wide-tooth comb.

Before the pool: soak your hair with fresh water and apply a layer of conditioner: it acts as a barrier against chlorine.

Sun protection without flattening your waves

The classic wavy-hair fear: the cap that flattens your hairstyle. The solution is wearing your hair tied up outside the cap: with a ponytail-hole cap, your ponytail comes out through the opening and the wave stays intact.

Summer hairstyles for wavy hair

A loose low ponytail with a satin scrunchie for strolls, a loose braid for the beach (it defines the wave while you swim) and a high bun with a top-opening cap for messy bun days.
